Deutsche Bahn Chooses IBOMBO as a Model for Bicycle Infrastructure

At Deutsche Bahn’s test bicycle parking site in the heart of Berlin, our IBOMBO SCANDIC service station is presented in a unique edition – combining proven solutions that have already become sales standards with the latest enhancements we are preparing to bring to market.

Thanks to the use of top-grade materials, including AISI 630 stainless steel also used in the aerospace industry, the station has gained exceptional resistance to mechanical stress, weather conditions, and corrosion, while also ensuring easier maintenance and high reliability under intensive use.

The quality of these innovations was also recognized during the Velo-city 2025 trade fair in Gdańsk – the world’s largest international conference focused on cycling mobility. It was there that Deutsche Bahn employees, alongside experts from over 60 countries, could see firsthand that IBOMBO consistently sets new standards in bicycle infrastructure.

Testfeld Fahrradparken – Practice Over Catalogs

The Testfeld Fahrradparken project, developed by Infostelle Fahrradparken in cooperation with Deutsche Bahn, is a unique demonstration space where visitors can experience real, functioning bicycle infrastructure solutions.

Located beneath a railway viaduct in the very center of Berlin, right next to the Main Train Station, the site showcases 12 bicycle parking systems – from racks and multi-level constructions to solutions for cargo bikes, bikes with trailers, and lockers with integrated charging capabilities.

The aim of the project is to enable representatives of municipalities, transport associations, railway operators, and developers to directly test and compare various systems. This hands-on experience supports more informed investment decisions than those made solely based on catalogs or renderings.

IBOMBO – Functionality That Inspires

Our IBOMBO SCANDIC station has been recognized as an example of durable and functional infrastructure, already in use at thousands of locations across Germany.

The latest version of our station in Berlin features solutions that are just entering the market – a full set of our custom-designed stainless steel tools for public use, a stainless steel adapter, and a range of enhancements that improve protection from the elements, ergonomics, ease of maintenance, and overall durability.

UV printing has also become a standard in our production process, ensuring long-lasting signage and a clean, professional appearance.

A Shared Future with Bicycles at the Center

Testfeld Fahrradparken will remain operational until the summer of 2027. During this time, the solutions presented at the site will be regularly tested, reviewed, and showcased through study visits, workshops, and stakeholder meetings.

The project will culminate in a nationwide conference on bicycle parking, scheduled for spring 2026 in Berlin.
